The Seattle Times reports on the 2010 census that will see gay and lesbian couples who share a home may identify one another as "husband or wife" if that is how they view their relationship - even if they have not legally married in any of the places where gay marriage is allowed. Advocates of gay marriage says this falls short but is still a partial breakthrough - one which offer tacit acknowledgment of the very relationships the federal government legally denies.
